After the equipment of the TB10 fleet, the ENAC wished to retrofit their TB20 aircraft. The airframe is identical to the TB10, but it is a retractable gear. Moreover, the engine is a Lycoming 6 cylinders.
We succeeded in integrating an exhaust system with 2 side mufflers under the hoods.
The respect of the identity of the lengths of the primary pipes and the integration of 2 collectors 3 in 1 make it possible to guarantee an equivalent output for each cylinder, and to reduce the load losses of the engine.
The result, under identical flight conditions (ISA +23°), is an increase in climb speed of 14%.
engine vibrations are reduced by 50% for improved comfort inside the cockpit.
The cabin heater box is designed to envelop the central silencer. The increase in its heat exchange surface improves its efficiency, and it acts as a thermal barrier that does not increase temperatures under the hood.
The choice of materials with high thermal resistance ensures excellent reliability.
The muffler must be serviced every 600 hours for the necessary inspection of the soundproofing materials.
